Primary Purpose:

We are adding an Operations Manager as we grow Clean Waters to manage environmental projects at customers' sites. This position will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of onsite environmental projects with a focus on water and soil PFAS remediation. The ideal candidate has demonstrated environmental project management experience including: project integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, staffing, risk, communications, and procurement; ensuring safety and customer satisfaction; training and mentoring junior staff; keeping project on budget.

***This position can be located anywhere within the continental United States, Midwestern-based is preferred with travel up to 50% required. ***

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times. Develop a safety plan for each project.
  • Develop and implement processes for project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and close out throughout the project life cycle stages. Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance, budget constraints, and project timelines.
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment used to complete onsite environmental projects.
  • Ability and willingness to research, recommend, learn, manage, and operate new pieces of equipment. Become certified as required.
  • Hire, train, and oversee personnel to run day-to-day onsite operations, maintain equipment, and manage repairs
  • Contribute to the development of written proposals and RFQs for projects, as well as determination of project cost and timeline
  • Review bids from contractors and assist with determining waste disposal or destruction options.
  • Manage project start-up by scheduling resources. Submit required paperwork to start project, including applying for permits as required. Negotiate with regulatory agency personnel. Prepare written plans and compliance documents.
  • Manage sites during projects and keep client apprised of progress; recognize and negotiate changes in original project plan and readjust costs accordingly.
  • Participate in hiring, performance evaluation, disciplining, promotion, and termination decisions.
  • Ensure timely billing and various other administrative tasks. Take the lead on customer payment issues as it relates to the projects within the positions span of control.
  • Ability to interact with sales personnel and customers as a technical contact.
  • Travel to job sites is required.

This position description is designed to outline primary duties, qualifications, and job scope. It is our expectation that each employee will offer his/her services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of our endeavors.

Education and Experience:

-Four-year college degree in a technical field required, engineering major preferred. In place of a technical degree, extensive relevant work experience will be considered.

-Minimum of 8 years experience preferred in the following areas: groundwater &/or wastewater treatment; RCRA &/or CERCLA remediation and corrective action projects; environmental consulting and project management

-40-hour HAZWOPER and 10-hour OSHA certification required.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function.

-Proven ability to perform field work, write reports, and manage multiple sites in a quality manner.

-Experienced with managing multiple projects at a time and developing new business. Good knowledge and understanding of various federal, state and local industry-related regulations. -Working knowledge of environmental programs preferred (EPA, OSHA, DOT, Hazwoper).

-Ability to manage schedules, stay within budget, and maintain strong relationships with customers.

-Ability to sell additional work and articulate project scope.

-Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts.

-Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.

-Problem solving abilities.

-Strong business writing skills and computer skills.

-Travel required up to 50% nationally.

-Must be able to be on call as needed or as scheduled.

-Ability to work outside in weather conditions.

-Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
