HRMS Programmer/Analyst - PeopleSoft

The HRMS Senior Programmer/Analyst role is part of a team that supports the day-to-day operations of the HRIS and helps ensure that the system(s) are leveraged to support HR business processes and programs. Specifically, this role will have an emphasis on configuring and programming the system to meet business objectives, troubleshooting system issues and resolving them. The Senior Programmer/Analyst assists management and subject matter experts in defining requirements, managing projects, building and testing applications and mentoring other functional and technical staff members. The Senior Programmer/Analyst is also part of the team which ensure the security, system data integrity, efficiency and timely updates to ensure compliance with all tax and payroll requirements and fulfillment of agreed upon strategy.


Essential Job Functions:

  • HRMS Systems-Accountable to manage the HRMS platform(s) including the review, testing and implementation of HRMS system upgrades or patches. Collaborate with functional and technical staff to coordinate application of upgrades or fixes. Maintain HRMS system tables. Document processes and results.
  • HRIS Strategy-Analyze and identify business needs to build and support HRIS strategy. Act as an influential leader to help the organization make good decisions regarding systems and their use.
  • Programming & Production Support-Support for HRMS including, but not limited to, researching and resolving HRMS problems, unexpected results or process flaws; perform scheduled activities; recommend solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements. Perform complex computer programming, configuration and troubleshooting tasks to ensure proper functioning, usability, and sustainability of the system.
  • Projects/Process Improvement-In collaboration with business partners or as a member of a project team, propose process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, develop implementation and/or change documents, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy. As assigned, manage complex projects and project teamsFacilitates team discussions and requirements definition to ensure clarity and appropriate outcomes of project work.
  • Subject Matter Expert-Provides in-depth technical and functional expertise on one or more functional areas (benefits, payroll, etc.)
  • Reports/Queries'-In collaboration with end-users, write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools with a high level of attention to accuracy. Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs. Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
  • Mentorship/Training-Mentors others in the use of system functionality to address business requirements Develop user procedures, guidelines and documentation. Train business partners and teammates on new processes/functionality. 

      

Relevant Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of HR Core processes to include Compensation and Benefits and Payroll
  • Ability to manage multiple, changing priorities and work under pressure
  • Actively shares knowledge and expertise of complex business requirements, processes and best practices to management and other team members in language they can understand
  • Proven effective project management skills in complex environments with competing priorities
  • Courage to take initiative in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances
  • Solid consultation skills and the ability to seek out information and provide quality advice
  • Ability to gain alignment with different clients and represent a common point of view across multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to effectively present information
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and problem solving

 

Requirements:                                                                  

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or applicable experience/credentials of expertise
  • 5-7 years of work experience and demonstrated proficiency supporting PeopleSoft HR in both programming and analyst role (SQL, SQR, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Fluid, Cobol, Application Designer)
  • Full working knowledge of PeopleSoft Core HR, Benefits and Payroll processes including data entry of HR and Payroll transactions, pay calculations, tax and benefits, wage and hour laws, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple priorities. Ability to work under pressure. Strong preference for experience in managing upgrades and implementations
  • Proven ability to analyze program and system functionality and develop pro-active solutions
  • Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills
  • Skillful in systems life cycle management
  • Proficient in requirements analysis and development of file interfaces
