Talent Strategy Intern

The Heritage Group (THG) is seeking a Talent Strategy Intern to support our People + Culture (P+C) team as we work to elevate the employee experience and drive sustainable business value.

This role will conduct a few projects over the summer, providing the intern with a broad range of experience. Projects will include the development of a marketing strategy for targeted talent pipelines (including high school), research and best practice documentation, and support of project planning and reporting. This is an opportunity to explore a career path in human resources, as well as gain technical skills in targeted marketing, research, and project management.

The hours of this internship may vary but will be based on a 30-hour workweek. The internship will be done primarily in our Indianapolis office, but upon management alignment, may also work from home occasionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn about the functions of THG P+C team (human resources, learning & development, total rewards, shared services, and strategic giving).
  • Familiarize yourself with THG's approach to talent management and 2022 roadmap.
  • Review provided reports and documents to understand workforce trends and THG's approach to hiring and developing employees.

  • Marketing Strategy: Develop a communication plan for THG to use that will reach and appeal to potential job candidates, particularly those in high school.
    • Conduct comprehensive research on targeted talent segments to understand motivations, barriers, and opportunities.
    • Interview individuals to gain real-time insight into factors that influence their job evaluation and decision-making.
    • Develop and document marketing personas.
    • Create a marketing strategy that details how to reach each marketing persona and turn them into an interested candidate.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communication team to align messaging and create marketing materials.

  • Research + Best Practices Documentation: Work with your manager to understand the current state of each element of talent management and identify areas for additional research. Draft a memo for each identified element that includes THG definitions, key components, industry best practices, and – if applicable – available tools.

  • Project Planning and Reporting: Support your manager in updating project plans as needed.
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Current student pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related field (Business, HR, )
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience conducting research and documenting findings
  • Strong ability to understand an audience and communicate effectively
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • Effective organization and time management skills
  • Observe confidentiality guidelines at all times, with a high degree of professionalism
