Systems Administrator

Job Summary:

The Heritage Group seeks an expert to join our IT Shared Services team who understands the operation and support of enterprise software systems and the related application infrastructure.  This position will ensure efficient and effective operation of enterprise class business applications across our organization.  These applications include Viewpoint, Heavy Bid and Heavy Job, Oracle Forms and Reports, Weblogic, Apache/Tomcat and other enterprise applications.  In this position, you will bridge the communications gap between business users and information technologist, implement new capabilities and improve existing processes, and support enterprise IT applications.  This position reports to the ITSS Systems Manager and collaborates with stakeholders in finance, project administration, and field operations.  The position is peered with other Systems Administrators and supported by fellow ITSS team members providing network services, data services, and basic user support.  The position will be located in our Indianapolis corporate campus and work closely with regional offices and field locations. Occasional travel is required.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Architect application solutions to improve business processes using a repeatable, standard, and cohesive framework.
  • Solicit, interpret, and document business requirements.
  • Offer solutions and work to resolve differences between key stakeholders and external application vendors.
  • Develop and implement application and reporting solutions.
  • Support users with issues unresolved by in-house tier 1 and 2 technicians.
  • Integrate applications and provide application customizations.
  • Maintain user accounts and ensure security best practices are followed.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades including validation, benchmarking, UAC testing, and debugging.
  • Document and maintain knowledge base articles and learning content.  Coordinate new feature roll-out training with administrators and power users.
  • Monitor performance and ensure application integrity.
  • Evaluate new and emerging technologies specific to the business industry

  • Proficient in one or higher-level programming languages:  SQL, Crystal, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Bash, Perl
  • Proficient designing reports with Excel, SSRS, Crystal and other report writers. 
  • General knowledge of business processes and terminology.  
  • System Administrator skills to support the application platforms including Linux and Windows

 

Requirements:

 

  • The candidate must have 5+ years of experience implementing and supporting ERP software.  Viewpoint experience strongly preferred. SQL and ERP application administration experience required.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting, human resources, and project management in the construction or engineering field is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, AccountingFinance, Construction Management or related field is required.
  • Experience supporting applications in mobile field management, project scheduling, cost estimating, and material production systems is a plus.
