Position Summary

The Surveyor role will report to the Construction manager and will provide layout and establish line and grade per plans and specifications for any type of Milestone Contractor project. The role will also provide "As-Builts" as the business needs require.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to understand technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of local codes and regulations.
  • Maintain all line and grade instruments as well as laser equipment.
  • Ability to assist with GPS performance.
  • Advise project managers of potential problems, work interference, schedule difficulties, etc.
  • Assist in circumventing problems and offering resolutions as needed.

Work Environment: The work environment described here is representative of those that experienced by an employee performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Continuous exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at a construction site including heights, moving vehicles, stopped traffic, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, etc.
  • Continuous exposure to equipment cabs including computer controls, dials, handles, knobs, and switches.
  • Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, asphalt and/or concrete, aggregate/gravel pits, moving or stopped traffic at job sites.
  • Regular exposure to noise including horns, mechanical equipment, heavy equipment, jackhammers, etc.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50-75lbs on occasion.
  • Walks and stands for long periods of time.
  • Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day.
  • Fluctuating work environment between indoor and outdoor conditions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, technology or other related field; OR equivalent work experience; OR a combination of a lesser degree and equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in heavy highway construction preferred.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Must adhere to drug free workplace requirements, including submitting to random drug testing requirements.
  • If required to drive a company vehicle, must have, or able to obtain a valid state driver's license and meet company driver requirements.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Key Details:

  • This is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day.
  • Days and hours can vary, with a possibility of overtime and weekend shifts as needed.
  • Travel is primarily local during business day, some out of area and overnight travel may be required.
