Position Title: Staff Accountant

Department: Accounting

Location: Griffith


Position Summary:

Creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.


Essential Functions:

  • Process journal and general ledger entries for multiple companies
  • Reconcile General Ledger Accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financials
  • Help gather and prepare information for external auditors
  • Process accounts payable for 2 small companies and a third company on an "as-needed" basis
  • Assist with AP check runs and researching vendor issues
  • Responsible for having invoices submitted for entry with proper documentation in place for processing
  • Assist in fuel management and reporting
  • Preparation of Quarterly IFTA tax returns for 3 companies
  • Maintain and identify cost minimization opportunities as well as potential process improvements
  • Various other projects for the team as requested/required

Supervision Received: Reports to Controller, works under general direction of Controller and Assistant Controller

  • Clerical office environment
  • Indoor lab conditions that include standard office equipment such as computers, photocopier, phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, cubicles

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Sits at a desk 8 hours a day
  • Looks at a computer screen 8 hours a day
  • Performs data entry, alpha and 10-key numeric, on a keyboard
  • Uses copy/fax to scan documents


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, normally 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours.


Travel Minimal travel is a possibility


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 0-2 years previous experience

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must adhere to drug free workplace requirements, including random testing requirements
  • If required to drive a company vehicle, must have or be able to obtain valid, state driver's license and meet company driver requirements

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable) Must be authorized to work in the United States, as verified through E-Verify. Some job sites may require additional criminal background testing.
