Job Summary:

The Asphalt Sales Representative will report to the Regional Sales Manager and be responsible for effectively growing and supporting clients within the construction, pavement preservation, and infrastructure industry. This position will be responsible for achieving maximum sales profitability and account expansion within an assigned territory within Ohio. This can be achieved through educating clients on product portfolios, including specialty products and related services that would best accommodate and meet the customer's needs.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote, sell, and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
  • Demonstrate products and services to existing and potential customers by educating them during their decision process.
  • Facilitate and conduct "lunch & learn" sessions with prospective clients.
  • Follow all safety and regulatory guidelines in all interactions with cross functional departments throughout the organization and state.
  • Work closely with agency customers, contractors, consultants, and colleagues across varying departments and levels within the organization, including, but not limited to Sales Associates, Engineers, Laborers, DOT representatives, County Road Commissions, County Engineer teams, Contractors, Consultants, and other private entities.
  • Build a solid understanding of customer needs through consistent and meaningful communication including phone, email and in-person visits to their office or job site.
  • Create strategic action plans and solutions to meet customer specific needs and proactively resolve customer concerns.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers to generate new sales of products and services.
  • Collect and prepare bid documents prior to Bid Lettings and attend Bid Lettings, as needed, representing the company.
  • Participate in trade shows, conferences, seminars, meetings, or special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or applicable asphalt related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Construction, Asphalt, and/or Pavement industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills.

Key Details:

  • The desired candidate would be required to reside within 60 miles of the assigned region (Western Ohio).
  • 25% travel expectation throughout the assigned region, as business needs require.
