Position Summary:
Performs a variety of tasks in an assigned department or business unit, including field operations, estimating, project management, project accounting, human resources or safety.
Essential Functions:
- Performs Job site functions
- Conducts safety audits
- Participates in construction meetings
- Performs takeoffs
- Prepares bid documents
- Prepares job documents
- Meets deadlines
- Communicates with internal/external customers
- Answers inquiries via phone, email or in-person

- Indoor conditions that include standard office equipment such as computers, photocopier, phone, filing cabinets, fax machines, cubicles
- Outdoor conditions at highway construction job sites, which includes exposure to inclement weather, moving traffic, noise, fumes, mechanical and heavy equipment
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Sits at a desk for hours at a time
- Looks at a computer screen hours at a time
- Performs data entry, alpha and 10-key numeric, on a keyboard or tablet
- Uses copy/fax to scan documents
- Sits in motor vehicle and drives regularly
- Possesses stamina to walk around job sites up to 8 hours per day
- May lift up to 25lbs
- May need to stoop, bend, carry materials
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a temporary, full-time position, normally 40 hours per week, between May and August. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, but shift and weekend work may be required.
Travel Local travel to job sites or area offices may occur.
Required Education and Experience
- HS Diploma or GED;
- Currently enrolled in BS/BA program related to the construction industry
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must adhere to drug free workplace requirements, including random testing requirements
- If required to drive a company vehicle, must have or be able to obtain valid, state driver's license and meet company driver requirements
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable) Must be authorized to work in the United States, as verified through E-Verify. Some job sites may require additional criminal background testing.
