We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to lead a segment of our sales team and efforts at Asphalt Materials, Inc, a Heritage Construction + Materials Company. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing customer relations, leading individuals, and driving profitability within the construction, pavement preservation and infrastructure industry. This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop and implement effective sales strategies, build and nurture client relationships, and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Sales Strategy and Planning:
•Develop a comprehensive sales strategy to penetrate target markets and achieve business objectives.
•Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
•Collaborate with senior management to set sales targets, budgets, and forecasts.
•Create and maintain sales plans and strategies based on the seasonal and market needs, adjusting as needed and holding the sales team accountable to those expectations.


2.Team Leadership:
•Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing sales team of 3-5 individuals, supporting continuous growth, learning, and development.
•Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring.
•Foster a collaborative and motivated sales culture that emphasizes teamwork and continuous improvement amongst cross functional departments including Operations, Logistics, Finance, and Supply teams.
•Educate and enforce all safety and regulatory guidelines within the sales team and among cross functional departments throughout the organization.

3.Client Relationship Management:
•Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, and stakeholders in the construction and asphalt industry.
•Understand customer requirements and tailor solutions to meet their specific needs.
•Resolve customer concerns promptly and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

4.Business Development:
•Identify and pursue new business opportunities, both with existing clients and through new leads.
•Develop and execute strategies to expand the customer base and increase market share.
•Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network and showcase company offerings.

5.Sales Process and Reporting:
•Implement an effective sales process, from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
•Utilize internal software to track sales activities, customer interactions, and progress towards targets.
•Generate regular sales reports and present insights to senior management.

6.Product Knowledge and Market Expertise:
•Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive products.
•Provide product training to the sales team to enable effective communication of features and benefits.
•Build and nurture customer relationships for a select market within the AMI family of companies and products, including all specialty and commodity asphalt products and systems.
•Have extensive knowledge and understanding of the market and support growth and representation of commodity products and performance product portfolios including product application.

7.Collaboration and Communication:
•Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, logistics and marketing teams to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies.
•Communicate market feedback and insights to internal stakeholders for product development and improvement.
•Work closely with agency customers, contractors, consultants and colleagues across varying departments and levels within the organization. Examples include but not limited to other Sales - associates, Engineers, Laborers, DOT representatives, County Road Commissions, Contractors, Consultants, and other private entities.

Qualifications and Skills:

•Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Civil Engineering or a related field; or equivalent practical asphalt and other road related experience
•Proven track record of at least 5 years in sales or project management within the construction, road maintenance or manufacturing industry, preferably asphalt or construction related fields.
•Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse sales team.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain client relationships.
•Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and make informed decisions.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems
•Self-motivated, results-oriented, and adaptable to changing market dynamics.
•Willingness to travel as needed to meet clients and attend industry events.
•Knowledge of construction and materials, asphalt and pavements, with an understanding of field issues and how to implement resolution, with the willingness to continually learn.

Key Details:

•The Sales Manager role will report directly to the Director of Sales and manage a team of 3-5 Sales Individuals.
•This role will support several locations across Ohio, and Michigan. Desired candidate will be expected to reside within 50 miles of the territory, with a 25% travel expectation.
