Quality Control Technician MCC/243/Deer Creek

The Quality Control Technician will inspect, sample and conduct routine and special laboratory testing on Industrial Mineral filler and construction aggregate materials according to the appropriate standard test method(s).  Technician will perform tests to ensure the quality and consistency at the point of production and shipping.  The individual will be expected to perform troubleshooting and recommend corrective action for issues arising on field and jobsite locations.  The individual will verify test results with outside testing agencies and maintain accurate and timely records on test data, product quality, and defective materials.

Duties:

• Gather quality samples from bins, large aggregate stockpiles, jobsite, or finished product containment.
• Perform required aggregate quality testing from INDOT and other outside agencies/customers and maintain all necessary records and computer files.
• Must be current on all INDOT certifications
• Must current on all ISO9000 certifications
• Maintain proper order and cleanliness in the laboratory, stairs, and catwalks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or its equivalent.
• Current INDOT certification preferred.
• Certification or knowledge of ISO 9000 practices preferred.
• MSHA Trained preferred.
• Aggregate and mineral fill laboratory testing preferred.
• Basic mathematical and computer skills required.
• Positive attitude and ability to be a team player.
• Available to works evenings and weekends when needed.
• Must have a valid driver's license to operate motor vehicle

Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground.
• Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks.
• Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at waist or knees.
• Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, shovel, or carry up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work outside majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.

Primary location of coverage is Midwest Calcium Carbonates, 243 Quarry, and Deer Creek Quarry. Flexibility to fill in at other locations.
