Quality Control Engineer, Heritage Research Group

The Quality Control Engineer will be responsible for working with a team focused on asphalt pavement recycling to accurately and consistently test construction materials related to asphalt mixes in a timely manner.  This role will involve jobsite quality control testing, sampling and processing pavement materials, mix design testing, data analysis, and problem solving. The quality control engineer will report to the mix design lab manager. Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Observe safe work practices at all times
• Provide onsite quality control technical support for pavement recycling contractors including Cold In-Place Recycling, Full Depth Reclamation, and Cold Central Plant Recycling
• Generate technical reports including project summaries, pavement investigation reports, and quality control reports
• Communicate effectively with all members of the mix design team, The Heritage Research Group, associated Heritage Construction Materials companies, D.O.T. personnel, and personnel from various agencies
• Follow industry-standard preparation and testing protocol and quality control guidelines
• Record and organize information from a variety of sources accurately
• Obtain state D.O.T., county, city, etc. materials and testing certifications in a timely manner
• Collect samples from existing roads, quarries, and plant locations for evaluation
• Use a variety of heavy-duty saws and drills to effectively prepare road samples
• Evaluate and analyze test results and take corrective action when needed
• Assist in general maintenance and calibration of all laboratory and road equipment
• Maintain good housekeeping practices

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree with relevant experience. Degree in a construction or engineering related field is preferred.
• Experience in materials testing, construction, or laboratory work is preferred
• Ability to travel across the Midwest (Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and West Virginia) to support pavement recycling projects. Travel is 10-15% overnight or 30%-day trips.
