HC+M Production Control Lead

Heritage Construction and Materials (HC+M) seeks a qualified candidate to join our team to manage our production control technology. The Production Control Lead will partner with leadership and plant/site staff to ensure delivery of high-quality products that meet our customers need.

This role will begin to report to HC+M Chief Strategy officer, and eventually to the HC+M Director of IT, and with both have dotted line reporting into THG ITSS.

Responsibilities

  • Create inventory and lifecycle plans for production control applications and hardware for each applicable HC+M site
  • Designing, planning, and redesigning equipment layout and technologies used with a goal of standardization and at times automation, and therefore utilize technology (and automation) as a solution to keep us highly effective, relevant, and efficient
  • Conducting tests and monitoring the process performance throughout production, and in doing so identifies important business and customer opportunities to solve and implement strategic technology solutions
  • Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturing processes and respective technologies. For mission critical items that prevent a plant from being down during must-have production times, and for items that cannot be solved by ITSS help desk or plant support during after-hours, be available for after-hours and weekend availability.
  • Partner with EH&S (environmental, health, & safety) plant teams regarding any source data from IT systems or IT equipment that is needed for compliance with environmental and safety regulations and any calibration o Partner with Lab management for any overlap of communication, processes, and standards

  • Evaluate production control system performance and recommend improvements. Recommend process and/or system improvements for high quality, cost effectiveness and excellent customer services
  • Train and demonstrate key production control system functionality and incorporate safety and security, where possible.
  • Review daily performance data by location to identify and address equipment malfunctions, material shortages and other factory problems.
  • Provide insights to leadership on key system and technology advancements with relevance to the HC+M business to inform key enterprise-wide initiatives and priorities
  • Identify and achieve efficiencies through technological and workflow improvements
  • Evaluate and communicate challenges, successes, risks and opportunities related to data and system management
  • Responsible for establishing an open and collaborative environment where knowledge and experience is shared throughout the organization
  • Partner with THG ITSS teams for items such as standardization, help desk support, strategic opportunities, risk areas, and identifying and execution of all phases of system/IT.
  • Partner with the HC+M and ITSS teams on Merger & Acquisition activities including strategic opportunities and risk areas, identifying and execution of all phases of system/IT diligence and integration
  • This role is start to more to come, and therefore will need to be able to attract, build, develop, and retain a team to support our production control efforts, and in doing so develop a vision/mission/priorities for the team to continue to deliver value for the organization.

Technical Environment

  • An illustrative, not exhaustive list such as: o DeltaV, Honeywell, Rockwell Allen Bradley, Aztec HMA plants, Siemens controls, and similar production control systems

o Weigh Scales such as Cardinal & Rice Lake scales

o Production control systems feed and business data systems (PICSI, RIPPLE, VIEWPOINT), and therefore source data needs to communicate, not only for these business data systems, but also for the integration of a future HC+M data warehouse.



Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement System/IT strategies and tactical plans.
  • Interpersonal skills in developing positive working relationships with other employees working with the production process
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical topics in easy-to-understand terms
  • Embraces being in a plant environment, and will to get "dirty" to be able to get the task done with the team
  • Experience in negotiating vendor relationships and contracts
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Eager to create the structure of an innovative technology team - with hands-on people leadership and mentoring

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • 8 - 10 years of relevant work experience in systems, processes and data strategy and integration preferred

Travel

  • 25% - 45% to site locations as needed and appropriate. Most sites are located in Indiana.

Work Environment

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and other office-related equipment. Willingness to work in an office setting or in a hybrid model. For mission critical items not able to be solved by others, will need to be available for after-hours on weekend support.
