Pavement Materials Engineer

A Day in the Life:

The Pavement Materials Engineer will provide support by identifying proper construction techniques and materials for pavement rehabilitation projects. They will find themselves working as part of the mix design team in the lab, in an office-setting and on roadway projects in the field. Common tasks in this role include performing materials testing, writing technical reports, and communicating with various stakeholders. The engineer would support business growth by partnering closely with lead engineers to determine project candidacy and coordinating with the sales team in promoting pavement preservation and rehabilitation techniques. The candidate would need to be comfortable with some travel throughout the Midwest sampling pavements, performing quality control testing during roadway construction, and providing technical support to customers and agencies on pavement recycling rehabilitation techniques.

Success in this position looks like:

A successful engineer in this role would be operating safely in a variety of environments, advancing their skills in identifying project candidates while sampling pavements, and building relationships with customers. Effective written communication skills would help the candidate progress in responsibilities. They must actively communicate among the mix design team on project details and updates as well as develop proficiency in laboratory testing and results analysis. The engineer would develop skills in training and education regarding ongoing research and pavement recycling techniques to be successful in this position.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree (Civil Engineering preferred) Experience in road construction or pavement materials testing considered a plus Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office software

Work Environment:

• This position may ask the following physical requirements: sitting or standing for long periods of time; lifting up to 50 pounds, bending to lift, crouching, kneeling, walking
• This position regularly asks the individual to work safely in environments with dust and noise using personal protective equipment
