Organic Chemist

Description:

We are seeking a well-rounded, organic-focused research chemist to assist with GC, LC and other laboratory analyses.  The candidate must be able to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain GC/FID, GC/MS and LC/MS systems with minimal supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to: sample preparation and analysis, bench chemistry, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and other laboratory duties as designated by direct supervisor. Development of methods may be required as necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze research group samples by GC, LC, or other instruments as needed
  • Deliver the necessary analytical information for each sample/project
  • Communicate any complications or caveats that may accompany any samples/projects
  • Determine and implement appropriate preparatory method for sample analysis
• Perform routine instrument maintenance
• Perform bench chemistries and conduct sample preparation based on project needs

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related science 
• Proficiency in GC/MS and LC/MS software and mass spectral interpretation
• Experience prepping samples (L/L extractions/ SPE/ sonication extractions etc.)
• Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Willingness to work on other research projects as needed
• Understanding and implementation of safe laboratory practices
• Strong organizational skills
• Creativity and problem solvent skills to find solutions to business opportunities
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Multitasking and prioritization skills with ability to be self-motivated
• Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to travel occasionally
• Familiarity with Agilent and/or LECO GCMS Instrumentation desired
• Familiarity with Agilent MassHunter Data processing software desired
• GC/GC experience preferred
