Operations Performance Manager

This position is responsible for driving the continuous improvement process for the aggregates team with the goal of identifying, quantifying and prioritizing opportunities across the business to deliver year over year financial improvements. The role will leverage and look to enhance performance monitoring tools to develop and train a common language for measuring performance and consistent bench marking. The position will be responsible for maintaining a project data base that will identify and track project completion and financial benefit. The role will contribute to developing and maintaining tools for monitoring mobile and fixed plant equipment uptime and performance, mine planning and stripping, and capital project assistance. Additionally, the role will partner in support of integration and development of new business opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

Safety and Environmental:

  • This role will actively participate with the development and support of the health and safety culture through active participation and leadership in US Aggregates safety and environmental programs.
  • Work with Plant Managers and Safety team on identifying and integrating best practices into projects or overall plant improvements.

Job Performance Metrics:

  • The role will be to coordinate and maintain improvement project lists and work with the team to prioritize and quantify benefits.
  • The role will be responsible for driving improvement project completion and close out and achieving annual cost reduction/improvement savings.
  • Responsible for coordinating and documenting Performance Efficiency Reviews (PER's) across the sites. This includes reviewing fixed plant throughput, uptime, downtime analysis, manpower utilization, mobile equipment availability, cycle time analysis, and drilling and blasting performance.

Team Collaboration and Training:

  • Partner and collaborate with Area Managers and production teams to monitor/ troubleshoot site performance metrics on a scheduled basis.
  • Assist with the consistent utilization and training of performance tools to monitor fixed plant and mobile equipment performance
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering and RIPPLE teams to assist in building out standardized equipment, stage and set nomenclature. Ensuring accurate Aggflow's are maintained as changes are made.
  • Partner with HCM Master Blackbelt to facilitate with training and project scoping, execution and close out.
  • Work with production and engineering teams in identifying capital projects and major improvements associated with fixed and mobile equipment
  • Assists local teams in developing maintenance standards, procedures and schedules including the utilization and implementation of preventative maintenance plans, equipment monitoring, and inventory management including critical spare parts.
  • Facilitate the use of equipment vendors to improve maintenance and equipment performance.
  • Assist in setting up Vision Link for applicable locations.
  • Assist in establishing drone program for mine planning, inventory, and site assessment.

Innovation:

  • Work with operations and sales to identify new processes and potential products
  • Partner with Vendors and to bring new products

Education and Other Skills:

  • 10+ years experience in manufacturing or mining
  • Experience in continuous improvement and performance management
  • Experience directing and leading multiple large teams
  • High School Diploma required.
  • BS / BA Degree preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership, communication (both verbal and written) and problem resolution skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to motivate employees and builds effective teams.
  • Must demonstrate consistent utilization of organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Outlook and Excel) and other software/system packages relevant to the position.
  • Must demonstrate relevant technical knowledge related to plant operations.
  • Must demonstrate proficient business knowledge related to financials and operational tracking.
  • Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of scheduling and production planning to meet customer needs.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license and a clear driving record.
  • Approximately 75% travel

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground.
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks.
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at waist or knees.
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work outside and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
