Land Acquisition and Development Manager

The Land Acquisition Manager will report to the company President and be responsible for land related business strategies. The Land Manager will be the primary point of contact in prospecting and negotiating purchases or leases with landowners related to the strategic needs of businesses. The role requires a strategic and analytical thinker that will play a key role in the management of key company assets. This position plays a critical role in positioning the company for long term strategic growth and profitability. Land acquisition manager will work closely with landowners, local governments, community organizations, and engineers to gain support and to determine site purchase or lease decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop business prospects that translate into financially rewarding opportunities for the company.
  • Develop long-term relationships with land owners in order to evaluate assets for acquisition or lease.
  • Research, gathering information and document land opportunities in various geographies.
  • Identify and document information on the competitive landscape.
  • Manage and execute real estate contracts in partnership with internal and external counsel as appropriate.
  • Maintain and improve electronic filing system on historical data, including current assets and future targets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or mining / engineering related disciplines.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in land management
  • Experience in evaluating and managing land resource revenue streams, including but not limited to water, timber, farming, and hunting.
  • Experience in P&L management considered a plus.
  • Experience participating in due diligence considered a plus.
  • Proficient in state environmental, real estate and mining and mineral laws.
  • Familiarity with Indiana Geological Survey data and relevancy in land assessment.
  • Experience with managing and executing real estate contracts considered a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive, long-term relationships that translate into successful business relationships.
  • Skilled and determined researcher with the ability to negotiate appropriate contracts and regulatory areas.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems and creation of electronic document storage required.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and to partner with appropriate levels within the organization.
  • Strong relationship skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple priorities while maintaining positive relationships and operating in a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to travel twenty five percent.
