Human Resources Intern - Milestone Contractors

Milestone Contractors, a member of The Heritage Group family of companies, is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Intern that has an interest in immersing themselves in an HR department that is growing and evolving. As a member of the Milestone HR team, this person will work closely with the HR director on a variety of projects and tasks focused on improving the efficiency of the team and the function.

This internship may be full or part-time, but full-time is preferred. They will work primarily in our Indianapolis office with the opportunity to travel to other offices around Indiana if needed.

Timeline: Paid Summer Internship: May 15th – August 4th with final dates determined by the student's availability

• Intern pay is non-negotiable and is calculated based on current academic class standing $17/hour (Freshman) - $20/hour (Senior), etc.

Location: Milestone Contractors, LP 5757 Decatur Boulevard, Suite 250, Indianapolis, IN 46241

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the onboarding of new employees, to include drug testing, new hire paperwork, introduction to the company values, safety equipment distribution, and more
• Creation of reference materials for use by the HR team with the goal of ensuring key information is documented accurately
• Conduct audits of some key data elements in the HRIS for the benefit of ensuring accurate application of SOPs
• Generate activities and resources for use with outreach activities focused on promoting careers in heavy highway construction; career fairs, high school career days, etc
• Work with HR director to create a centralized resource site (likely Sharepoint) for all things the HR team needs to operate smoothly and communicate effectively

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Current Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; advanced Excel and/or Sharepoint experience desired
• Technical aptitude and comfort in learning new software
• Extraordinary attention to detail
• Strong presentation skills, including the ability to make presentations in a virtual environment such as Teams
• Ability to problem solve and search for answers that may not be readily available
• Ability to manage several projects at once
• Effective organization and time management skills
