Human Resources Business Partner

The Human Resources Business Partner will be integral in the improvement and implementation of HR business processes and initiatives. Working with the HR Director and HR Admin, the role will partner with leadership across the business on both strategic and day-to-day talent and HR needs. Partnering with leaders, they will be the key contact to influence change, implement new practices, while increasing employee engagement and business efficiency.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned people navigator who is motivated to learn and have the ability to influence others through change. In addition, the HR Business Partner will:

Lead employee relations efforts

  • Educate and support employees with questions or concerns on processes, benefits, policies, etc.
  • Coach and communicate with line management on changes, employment policies and procedures and employee relations situations without adverse impact on regulatory / legal compliance, company reputation or employee engagement
  • Support in the delivery of disciplinary processes, including executing investigations when necessary

Lead talent acquisition and onboarding processes

  • Partner with local site leaders to streamline recruiting efforts for hourly and salaried roles
  • Assist with job description creation, job postings, interview scheduling, compensation analysis, offer letter creation, etc.
  • Coach and train managers on interview, hiring and onboarding processes
  • Ensure effective onboarding of employees by assisting in scheduling drug screens/physicals and new hire paperwork, in addition to supporting leaders in creating onboarding and training plans for employees

Business partnership

  • Be active and visible at site locations in order to champion and influence change, support the development of front-line managers, promote employee engagement and improve process efficiency
  • Learn and understand business strategies and processes to effectively contribute to business decisions and communicate changes appropriately
  • Partner with Safety team and demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas

Support employee development and growth

  • Assist with the implementation of key development initiatives and programs in partnership with business leadership to ensure that employees are appropriately trained and continually developing
  • Evaluate training needs and establish schedules to meet needs
  • Develop readiness and ensure engagement and capability in performance programs and initiatives tied to company-wide strategic talent goals.
  • Assist managers with employee performance coaching, discipline and goal setting needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5 years HR Business Partner/Generalist experience preferred
  • Experience in the mining, construction, or manufacturing environment considered a plus
  • Be active and visible at site locations to champion and influence change - Up to 50% travel required
  • Proven track record of HR business partnering across the range of core HR disciplines (Employee Relations /Labor Relations, Learning & Development, Compensation & Reward, Talent Management, Change Management)
