HR Documentation Intern

The Heritage Group is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Documentation Intern to support our HR Shared Services function as we continue to grow and evolve. HR Shared Services (HRSS) is driving to improve quality and efficiency across its teams, which are Payroll, Benefit Administration, HR Services, and HR Reporting. Ensuring proper documentation in employee files is a critical step to meeting HRSS' goals in performance and compliance.

This role will audit existing employee files for regulatory compliance. This role will also develop the tracking mechanism to document the audit. This is an opportunity to explore a career path in compliance or human resources. This internship will be part-time through the summer. The hours may vary but will be based on a 30-hour workweek. The internship will be done primarily in our Indianapolis HR office, but upon management alignment, may also work from home occasionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with process owners to understand current documentation procedures
  • Follow directions to check in-scope employee files for determined documentation
  • Develop and utilize tracking mechanism to record findings
  • Build simple reports to show progress and results
  • Develop recommendations on next steps, including collection of missing documents and process improvements. Have a point of view
  • Partner with process owners and managers to socialize and revise any proposed process step changes
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Current Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related field (Business, HR, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; Word and Visio experience required
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • Effective organization and time management skills
