General Counsel

Job Summary:

Heritage Construction + Materials (HC+M) currently has an exciting General Counsel opportunity on our team. The General Counsel will provide legal advice and services in support of the entire organization and its affiliated entities. They will also provide strategic legal advice and counsel regarding human resources, labor relations, contract needs and merger/acquisition.

Essential Job Functions:

• Act as primary legal advisor to the executive leadership of Heritage Construction + Materials (HC+M) companies
• Negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements and licenses
• Act as a strategic leader related to labor relations needs including union activity, grievances, negotiations and contracts
• Develop strong, collaborative partnerships and lead key cross-functional efforts with operations, finance, and human resources
• Partner and advise HR team on legal matters, compliance, employee agreements and policies
• Manage claims and litigation that may be filed against any HC+M companies
• Managing and advising on corporate governance and enterprise risk management matters
• Partner with M+A team to lead and manage M+A activity and transactions

Qualifications

• J.D. from accredited law school and licensed or qualified to practice law in Indiana
• 7 10+ years of experience preferably as in-house legal counsel supporting industrial operations
• Labor relations and union experience desired
• Experience with government contracting preferred
• M+A transaction experience desired
