Financial Analyst Intern - Summer 2019

Asphalt Materials, Inc. is looking for an eager student to join our finance team for an internship during the Summer of 2019.  This internship will provide a student with exposure to the day to day life of a finance department and be given a project to focus on and present at the end of the summer.  The intern will gain hands on experience with forecast planning and analysis, model building, and analysis of operational data supporting our manufacturing group.  Possible projects may involve business development, FP&A, or helping build a data warehouse and analytical dashboard.  On a day-to-day basis, the intern may be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators
• Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
• Support the team in the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Modeling Tools
• Ad-Hoc reporting and analysis
• Assist in the development of financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
• Prepare presentations
• Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management
• Support leadership with in depth analysis

An ideal candidate would be the following:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Analytics, or a related major
• In their third year of study or Junior class standing
• Strong analytical skills
• Outgoing, positive attitude
• Ability to work independently and work collaboratively with team
• Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
