Estimator-Business Development

Milestone Contractors is seeking an Estimator for our Bloomington, IN area office.  Estimators generate quotes and new business opportunities in assigned markets.

Essential Functions:

• Generates and develops quotes
  • Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare quotes/estimates especially with underground utility, earth, concrete paving and bridge work
  • Computes various cost factors
  • Prepares budgets and schedules for work
  • Ensures all estimates meet or exceed company and customer's expectations, as well as regulatory requirements
  • Applies construction operations means, methods and historical data to bids
• Develops beneficial business relationships
  • Develops good working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, clients and INDOT personnel
  • Develops a network and contacts within the community
• Performs day-to-day estimating tasks
  • Sets up jobs in job costing
  • Generates purchase orders and subcontractor agreements
  • Reviews billings, prepares change orders and job cost reports
• Communicates with internal/external customers 
  • Answers inquiries via phone, email or in-person
  • Provides highest levels of customer service
  • Promotes a team focused work environment
  • Makes presentations to large and small groups
  • Translates technical information into easily understood language
• Promotes and maintains safe work environment.
  • Exhibits safe work behaviors
  • Wears all prescribed PPE

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related discipline, or equivalent work experience; 5-7 years' work experience in construction industry.  Experience with Bid Tracking Software such as, but not limited to, Heavy Bid.  Familiarity with INDOT and local municipality specifications.
