Estimator-Business Development

Milestone Contractors is seeking an Estimator for our Columbus, IN area office to assist in the generation of quotes and new business opportunities in assigned markets.

Essential Functions of an Estimator I:

• Assists with quotes generation
  • Computes various cost factors
  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements
  • Ensures accuracy of all information
  • Solicits suppliers and subcontractors
• Develops beneficial business relationships
  • Develops good working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develops a network and contacts within the community
  • Develops good working relationships internally
• Performs day-to-day estimating tasks
  • Generates quantity take-offs and calculations
  • Prepares purchase orders and rough draft subcontractor agreements
  • Prepares subcontractor / supplier lists
  • Read plan sheets and interpret into quantifiable information for estimating project costs
  • Meets deadlines for estimating and bidding
• Communicates with internal/external customers.
  • Answers inquiries via phone, email, or in-person
  • Provides highest levels of customer service
  • Makes presentations to large and small groups
  • Translates technical information into easily understood language
• Promotes and maintains safe work environment
  • Exhibits safe work behaviors
  • Wears all prescribed PPE

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Construction Technology, Construction Management, or related field. 1-3 years previous experience in asphalt paving/bridge construction industry, civil construction and/or estimating or project management

Additional Requirements:

Must pass pre-employment drug screen and must adhere to drugfree workplace program
