Environmental Specialist
Job Summary:
The Environmental Compliance Manager's primary objective is to provide expertise and leadership to Asphalt Materials Inc. in the areas of air, waste, water, and local regulations. Ensure the implementation and ongoing improvement of environmental policies within the business as well as compliance with the relevant regulation. This position will provide functional and technical expertise to the employees of the company.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare and submit
- Air and Water Discharge Permit Applications
- Storm water Plans and ensure inspections and water samplings are completed in assigned areas
- Spill prevention Plans
- Oil spill facility response plans
- Regulatory and site planning efforts
- Compliance Reports with related support documentation, and spill-related and response reports
- Community Right-To-Know reports regarding toxic release inventory reports to US EPA
- Deliver environmental training programs for operations, as required and ensure adequate records are maintained
- Perform audits of facilities for compliance and regulations
- Company policies and corporate procedures and make recommendations to corporate management
- Participate in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), state environmental agencies, local government inspections
- Conduct internal environmental compliance audits
- Keep up to date with all Federal, State, and local environmental legal requirements and monitor developments or changes
- Oversee consultant work and project environmental budget for ongoing projects
- Respond and provide oversight for the emergency response to sudden releases of oil and hazardous materials
- Keep all Business Licenses and Certifications up to date for multistate locations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Required; preferred in environmental engineering or related science and technical discipline
- 3-5 years works experience required; asphalt industry preferred
- Air quality testing experience
- RCRA experience preferred
- SPCC experience preferred
- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
- Must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills, interpreting rules, laws, agreements, etc.
- Demonstrate computer proficiency in MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint
- Ability to travel up to 40% during the months of March-June and October to December
Relevant Skills
- General knowledge of emission factors, west laboratory testing methods, chemistry and land surveying
- Extensive mathematics used for calculating air emissions, water, and pollutant discharges
- Ability to partner with Engineering, Land, and Operations to assist in managing capital projects for environmental upgrades
