Sample Early Career Talent Specialist Job Description

Early Career Talent Specialist

Early Career Talent Specialist

At The Heritage Group ("THG"), we seek to develop an early-in-career talent pipeline into our roles throughout our companies and divisions from high school and college internships to full-time positions across our organization.  The Early Career Talent Specialist ("Specialist") will work closely with our divisions across THG to ensure robust pipelines for apprenticeships, internships and, when appropriate, undergraduate recruiting into new full-time positions.  The Specialist will be the university and candidate relationship partner, responsible for organizing and coordinating recruitment and programming for the next generation of talent at The Heritage Group.

The Specialist will be the primary relationship builder and execution partner with external partners for recruiting and program development, including colleges and universities, high schools, and workforce development program partners such as Orr Fellows and Ascend Indiana.  In addition, the Specialist will lead supporting efforts for early career talent, such as our Brothers Scholar program that helps employee-children achieve their post-secondary education dreams.

A significant responsibility is the leadership of THG's internship experience.  The Heritage Group internships offer the possibility of getting to know the company, gather practical experience, develop personal capabilities, build a personal network, and can be the launching pad to deepen interests within a subject of study and future role at THG. The Specialist will be responsible for providing an exceptional experience from recruiting and hiring to program development, including the design and development of orientation, programming, and cultural immersion to supplement the day-to-day work experience.  The Specialist will be a trusted and reliable partner to internal business leadership and recruiting management to help identify and fulfill recruiting requests as needed through universities and external workforce development partners.

This is an exciting role at THG that embodies our passion for talent and opportunities for young people to be engaged in and contributing to our work at an early point in their career.

The successful Early Career Talent Specialist will:

  • Serve as a key resource to HR business partners and recruiters to assist in determining the company's early career talent pipeline needs, especially related to internships and apprenticeships.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with university career centers, student organizations, faculty members, and alumni groups to drive awareness to career and developmental opportunities at The Heritage Group.
  • Partner with Indianapolis Orr Fellowship Program. Lead recruiting and talent initiatives to hire Orr Fellows into the organization and support through a two-year program.  Foster Orr Fellow engagement with community networking and connections.
  • Plan and lead the company's internship program. This includes program design, recruiting strategies, participant experience, internal and external stakeholder engagement and measurement.
  • Partner with Ascend Indiana to launch new apprenticeship program starting Fall 2021 for high school student in a non-manufacturing role, including role definition, program scope definition and additional program launch details with Ascend and THG partners.
  • Partner with local and national organizations to attract diverse early career talent to the company.
  • Create an annual roadmap of engagement opportunities with universities and local organizations: including career fairs, networking events, classroom presentations and interview panels to drive engagement. Engage THG employees in opportunities to engage with recruits and schools through these experiences.
  • Host in-house career days for students and recent graduates by department or field of expertise
  • Attend college career fairs, interacting with students and promoting our employer brand and employment experience.
  • Work with division HRBPs to support recruiting strategies that develop talent pipelines for critical roles within the organization starting with early career talent.
  • Liaison with Fehsenfeld family regarding early-in-career program communication.
  • Provide an exceptional candidate experience, both internally and externally, throughout the hiring process to promote The Heritage Group as a great place to work.
  • Provide engagement opportunities for THG employees with early career talent.
