Director of Performance

This position will assist operations in the goal of continuous improvement in aggregates production through the use of plant performance monitoring and process improvement identification and completion. The position will also involve assisting with developing and maintaining tools for monitoring mobile and fixed plant equipment uptime and performance, mine planning and stripping, and capital project assistance. Additionally the role will assist in support of integration and development of new business opportunities.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with management of operations to improve production related processes with the goal of improving operating costs.
  • Work closely with production teams to implement and monitor site performance metrics. These include fixed plant throughput, uptime, downtime analysis, manpower utilization, mobile equipment availability and cycle time analysis, and drilling and blasting performance.
  • Assist with identifying capital projects and major improvements associated with fixed and mobile equipment, working with the Engineering team through completion.
  • Assist with developing site mining plans/strategies along with the plant leaders. This will include coordination of stripping and quarry production requirement to meet sales, quality and quantity demands.
  • Complete fleet optimization analysis based on production demands and quarry constraints.
  • Assisting with the development of tools to maintain and monitor fixed plant.
  • Utilize and analyze production KPI's for potential improvements and recommendations.

Education and Other Skills:

  • 10+ years experience in manufacturing or mining
  • Experience in continuous improvement and performance management
  • Experience directing and leading multiple large teams
  • High School Diploma required.
  • BS / BA Degree preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership, communication (both verbal and written) and problem resolution skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to motivate employees and builds effective teams.
  • Must demonstrate consistent utilization of organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Outlook and Excel) and other software/system packages relevant to the position.
  • Must demonstrate relevant technical knowledge related to plant operations.
  • Must demonstrate proficient business knowledge related to financials and operational tracking.
  • Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of scheduling and production planning to meet customer needs.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license and a clear driving record.
  • Approximately 75% travel
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground.
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways and incline catwalks.
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at waist or knees.
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work outside and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
