Job Summary:

The Commercial Director - Specialty Products for Asphalt Materials, Inc. will be responsible for crafting a commercialization plan for new products and product line extensions. They will work with sales, technical, and operational teammates to devise safe and practical solutions to problems discovered from Voice of Customer feedback. The successful candidate will be technically curious, have a proven track record of successful product commercialization in the construction materials space, and be an open-minded team player. This role will be based in Indianapolis, IN and report to the VP of Specialty Products.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the creation and execution of an effective business strategy, including setting and achieving goals, creating department budgets, and forecasting for the Commercial Specialty Products team.
  • In addition to providing day to day leadership, support, solutions and redirection for the specialty products team, the primary function of this role is creating long-term strategic direction and achievement for the commercial specialty product platform.
  • Act as key contributor on the management team for strategic development and evaluation of commercial product potential when acquiring new business.
  • Formulation and execution of strategy and plans for new products, including products and processes from new businesses.
  • When appropriate, effectively integrate new products and businesses into the existing company.
  • Collaborate with operations, sales, supply, and the research group to create alignment and effective partnerships.
  • Coordinate with Heritage Research Group for research and development needs in relation to new products and processes.
  • Develop, support, and maintain relationships with key customers, agencies, associations, sales, supply, and operations teams within AMI.
  • Train and support the sales, supplies, and operations teams on new products processes and information.
  • Accountable for setting and achieving objectives that support the company vision and mission, communicating clear expectations, and holding the team accountable.
  • Build and support a strong commercial specialty products team and cross-functional team through effective communication, partnership, recruiting, training, coaching, team building, employee development, and succession planning.
  • Reinforce a culture focused on teamwork, effective communication, and problem solving through coaching and decision-making involvement with an obligation to develop future leaders in the organization.
  • Establish necessary budgetary requirements and determine metrics to measure performance based on the overall business objectives.

Requirements:

  • 10 years of relevant work experience, including experience in a management role.
  • Bachelor's degree required; post-graduate degree preferred.
  • Prefer sales experience with asphalt, chemicals, or other related products.
  • Experience leading and championing a large-scale integration or role out of a new product.
  • Proven success within a leadership and management role.
  • Demonstrated customer focus and satisfaction results.
