DevOps Engineer, IT Shared Services-Remote

The Heritage Group seeks an expert to join our IT Shared Services team who understands the operation and support of enterprise software systems and the related application infrastructure. This position will ensure efficient and effective operation of enterprise business applications. In this position, you will bridge the communications gap between business users and information technologist, implement new capabilities and improve existing processes, and support enterprise IT applications. This position reports to the ITSS Systems Manager and collaborates with application stakeholders, project managers, and additional IT teams. The position is supported by fellow ITSS team members providing network services, data services, and basic user support. The position will be located at our Indianapolis Corporate campus and work closely with regional offices and field locations. Occasional travel and on-call rotation is required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create and maintain CI/CD processes to support development teams
  • Design an infrastructure and configuration management strategy including, but not limited to: Infrastructure as Code, Container Environment, Infrastructure compliance and security
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain Provisioning and Configuration Management with Ansible mostly, but not limited to, Azure and VMWare environments
  • Continuous Feedback: Design and optimize feedback mechanism to development teams; establish monitoring tools, metrics and notifications allowing for rapid response to system issues
  • Identify, create and implement fixes for potential security and performance issues for infrastructure and applications
  • Setup and configure load balancers, firewalls, dns, ssl and network connectivity to support software systems
  • Solicit, interpret, and document business requirements by interfacing directly with business users and stakeholders
  • Serves as a liaison between IT and business users to resolve differences between key stakeholders and external application vendors.
  • Takes ownership of system issues, support requests, projects, and improvement tasks with some supervision
  • Tier 3 support of issues unresolved by in-house tier 1 and 2 technicians.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades including validation, benchmarking, UAC testing, and debugging.
  • Coordinate new feature roll-out training with administrators and power users.
  • Evaluate new and emerging technologies specific to the business industry

Technical Skills

  • Experience working with leading cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Git, TeamCity, Jira
  • Understanding of DNS, CDN, SSL and networking concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deploy containerized software in both cloud and on-premise environments
  • Hands-on experience with automation and configuration tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Terraform
  • Familiar with managing database instances
  • Familiar with testing and code quality tools
  • General operational experience to identify bottlenecks, profiling and load testing

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • At least five (5) years' experience in Linux Operating Systems or Application Administration position.
  • Experience reading and writing basic scripts for automation (e.g., yaml, bash, powershell)
  • Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux and Ansible
  • Experience supporting a wide range of applications running on UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of network and UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems. UNIX/Linux knowledge is preferred, but applicant must be willing to support both UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
