Job Summary

The BI CoE Manager will be a key player in helping The Heritage Group in designing, guiding, managing, and determining how enterprise data will be stored and utilized. This role will be responsible for identifying strategic data requirements of the enterprise and design models to make sure such data requirements align with the architecture of the enterprise. This is to be accomplished through collaboration with the business unit stakeholders as well as members of the ITSS Data Services Team. This role must keep up with the demands of a growing organization and work effectively in a team environment, but also with self-direction.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify strategic data requirements of the enterprise.
  • Determine how enterprise data will be stored and utilized, seeking consolidation where possible.
  • Collaborate with Database Administrator(s) to design and develop complex database management systems and separate public data from private data.
  • Collaborate with business unit stakeholders (e.g. application owners, business analysts, data architects either employees or third parties hired by BU's) to provide data governance, oversight/security, knowledge sharing, shared license management and general consultative advice (e.g. assistance reviewing contracts with third party BI resources).
  • Assist when possible to collate new data, provide guidance and support for new reports / dashboards.
  • Identify opportunities to meld existing data architecture with new ones as technology emerges and is adopted at the company.
  • Learn new techniques for data modeling and management and empower end users with appropriate knowledge.
  • Ensure the protection of data from unauthorized persons

 

Relevant Skills:

 

  • Very high level of self-awareness and desire to develop leadership capabilities.
  • Experience identifying and resolving issues independently. Demonstrates a solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgement.
  • Courage to take initiative in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances, including this newly developed role and desire from BU's to advance BI priorities.
  • Ability to gain alignment with different clients and represent a common point of view across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and problem solving.
  • Ability to manage projects and process improvement initiatives in partnership with ITSS Project Management resources.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

 

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Has 5+ years of experience in data analysis and/or data architecture: requirements gathering and data design and architecture.
  • Has 2+ years of experience in data strategy, oversight, CoE-type role.
  • Has 5+ years in BI vendor engagement and management.
  • Strong background in system development and data management.
  • Strong understanding of software project management approaches and requirements, system development lifecycle, and design and test techniques to perform duties effectively.
  • Proven knowledge of database design and modeling
  • Experience utilizing different data modeling techniques, and database design and management.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Azure and related technologies in the MS BI development stack.
