Business Intelligence Technologist Intern

Business Intelligence is the process by which enterprises use strategies and technologies for analyzing current and historical data, with the objective of improving strategic decision-making and providing a competitive advantage. The mission of the Business Intelligence Center of Excellence (BICOE) is to shepherd The Heritage Group evolution toward meaningful business intelligence solutions by empowering individual Business Units to improve their data quality and data understanding, to use it in strategic decision making, and to cooperatively develop a framework of governance for the implementation of an enterprise-wide data strategy at The Heritage Group.

The BICOE is seeking a Business Intelligence Technologist Intern to perform data analysis and create visualization that provides evidentiary support of the success of their mission. Additionally, to conduct proof of concept analysis, report builds, and application development. This includes the development of accurate dashboards, ETL processes, and data flows that are scalable, sustainable, maintainable, and accessible. The position will leverage Alteryx Designer for large data analysis, Power BI for visualization, and other Microsoft Power Platform tools for data acquisition.

This is an opportunity to explore a career path in business intelligence, business analysis, process improvement, and/or technical writing. This internship may be full or part-time. The internship will be located primarily in our Indianapolis office, but upon management alignment, may also work from home occasionally.

Timeline: Paid Summer Internship: May 13th – August 2nd

  • Intern pay is non-negotiable and is calculated based on current academic class standing $17/hour (Freshman) - $20/hour (Senior), etc.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with the BICOE team to develop new Power BI visualizations that align with defined BICOE
  • Analyze efficacy of various BICOE initiatives including Digital Champions and Alteryx Adopt-A- Thon.
  • Review existing BICOE owned Power BI Visualizations for accuracy and Deploy new visuals based on findings.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to identify and document their need for reports on technology adoption, trends, and forecasts. Develop and deploy Power BI reports that satisfy the need.
  • Assist business representatives with data cataloging efforts though interviews and guided
  • Independently manage small Business Intelligence and Proof of Concept analytics

Education/Professional Requirements

  • Understanding of the Microsoft Power Platform technology tool kit: Power BI, Power Apps, Power Virtual Agents, and Power Automate.
  • Current Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related field (Data Science, Data Analytics, etc.)
  • Technical aptitude and comfort in adapting to new
