Business Intelligence Busines Analyst

Business intelligence is taking on an increasingly strategic part as The Heritage Group looks for ways to tap into the valuable data stored in their business systems. Formidable tools like Azure, Microsoft Power Platform, Oracle EPM and Alteryx are being used to produce new insights into the operational and financial aspects of the business. As ITSS adopts new technologies for use throughout its business units, it is also launching an Enterprise Data Strategy initiative focused on establishing a foundation of secure design practices, cooperation between busines units, and the value of organized, quality data.

ITSS is looking for a talented Data Analyst/Busines Analyst to join our efforts in deploying its Enterprise Data Strategy. Part of the Enterprise Data Strategy is to support and provide customer service for the busines units in understanding the technical and strategic benefits of enterprise data governance, security and data cataloging. This includes developing and implementing dashboards, ETL processes, and data flows that are scalable, sustainable, maintainable, or easily accessible by executive leadership. As a member ITSS, you will assist in the development and application of standards and best practices, training and education, centralized vendor relationships and cross-departmental organization related to the deployment of business intelligence and analytics solutions across the enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Further ITSS and BU initiatives
    • Leverage technology to deliver value to the BU's
    • Drive the acquisition, inventory and defining of data assets at an enterprise level
  • Lead working groups in areas of expertise to establish, communicate and guide compliance with enterprise data strategy business rules
  • Back up administrator to the BICoE Manager: PowerBI, PowerPlatform, Azure DevOps, Alteryx, etc.
  • Maintain Cost, Design and Risk (CDR) assessment documentation of BI initiatives
  • Independently manage small BI projects
    • Collaborate with Business Units to understand current state and assist with future state definition of the systems and mechanisms for data capture, storage and processing
    • Collaborate with Business Units to translate business requirements into concise and clear Business Intelligence (BI) projects.
    • Design Power BI visual dashboards for easily digestible representations of data for different data internal consumers
    • Analyze existing BI reporting processes and recommend/implement improvements
    • Ensure project and support efforts meet service level expectations of business stakeholders and drive quality through best practice, standards, and process observation
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses of business problems and formulate conclusions and recommendations to be presented to senior leadership.
  • Analyze and report on ROI of BICoE technical enablement efforts
  • Work with project management to develop tools and processes for evaluating value of ITSS projects

Job Requirements

  • Professional demeanor and team player with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Outstanding customer service/communication skills
  • Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Desire to learn and acquire expertise in new technologies
  • Microsoft Office Suite expertise: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc
  • Experience working with data analytics tools such as SAS, Minitab, Tableau, Power BI, or Alteryx Designer
  • Demonstratable proficiency with complex ETL/ELT processes
  • Experience in reporting, analysis, and aggregation of large data sets
  • Demonstratable experience with Lean Management Principles and Tools (5S, Six Sigma, DMAIC, DMADV, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizan, Kanban, etc.)

Education/Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in informatics, statistics, mathematics, data science, computer science, data analytics or a closely related field is required (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in a Data Analyst / Business Analyst position
  • Proven use of the Lean Tools or CRISP-DM processes in previous projects
  • Exposure to a wide variety of business subject areas (Sales, Inventory, Marketing, Financials, Accounting/GL, etc.) and supply chain experience
  • ITSS would prefer the applicant has experience managing projects, designing/administering data warehouse systems and vendor management

First 90 days

  • Evaluation of technical skills and training planned to fill the gap
  • Attendance to many meetings for introductions to people and understand the current project load
