Business Improvement Summer Intern

The Business Improvement Team (BIT) has accountability for supporting the Lean Six Sigma (LSS) program across THG and our operating companies. Through the LSS Governance Committee, we partner with 10 businesses / corporate groups to determine what training offerings, coaching and support they need to successfully deploy the program in their areas.

We utilize a project/program/portfolio (PPM) platform called PowerSteering into which all LSS ideas, projects, financial and other program information are entered. The system is powerful but can be challenging to navigate for users. We need to develop, document, and communicate simple ways for users to enter complete, accurate data into the system so it can be reported in a timely fashion to leadership.

Timeline: Application open on a rolling basis or until February 28th at 5:00pm
Full-time paid summer internship from May 16th - August 5th

Job Responsibilities:

  • Learn how to navigate PowerSteering well enough to understand the why, what, when, who and how as it relates to data and information that currently goes into the system
  • PowerSteering is a cloud-based project portfolio management solution. Primary features include project portfolio management, workflow management, idea and demand generation, resource management, project portfolio management financials, program management and timesheets.
  • Work with the BIT to develop, document and communicate simple processes to ensure this data and information gets into the system in a timely manner

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Currently a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, management, or related fields.
  • Comfort and ideally experience with project/program/portfolio management (PPM) or similar software and ability to ramp up quickly in system proficiency
  • Comfort and ideally experience with running and interpreting reports from PPM or similar system
  • Basic understanding of financial principles/concepts
  • Proactive in determining next steps in a project and recommending a course of action
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-orientation
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
