Business Excellence Lead

The PositioN

The Business Excellence Lead will be part of the Business Excellence Team reporting to the SVP, Business Transformation at The Heritage Group. As a leader by influence and change agent, you will partner with our team to grow our business excellence shared bet at the corporate level and across each of its operating companies. It is critical that this individual have a strong curiosity to learn, become a trusted business partner across operating companies and have a high level of flexibility to enable our vision of creating a culture of continuous improvement and deliver enduring value.

Key Responsibilities Specific responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to:

  • Deploy our continuous improvement program with a focus on more deeply embedding Business Excellence methodologies across The Heritage Group of Companies. You will be held accountable to achieve results through business partnering.
  • Develop, maintain, and support the end-to-end elements of our Business Excellence shared bet which encompasses identifying, prioritizing, and solving important business and customer problems, celebrating our success, and sustaining the gains. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Be a first-choice business partner in the supported organization(s) across the entire portfolio of the Heritage Group companies, and all functions with a focus on capabilities to solve important business and customer problems.
    • Lead the delivery of business excellence training in a classroom or field environment and facilitate hands-on exercises and simulations.
    • Support the development of curriculum for business excellence training.
    • Partner with teams in the practical application of business excellence tools through their start to full completion of their projects with a cultural adoption into their respective business.
    • Troubleshoot with team members to resolve obstacles/roadblocks, serve as a sounding board for problem resolution and ensures smooth, continuous progress on projects.
    • Operationalize strategy and lead complex, cross functional/cross Operating Company projects from project initiation to value creation.
    • Participate in project selection & analysis.
    • Develop high-quality summaries/presentations in layman's term for appropriate stakeholders and projects.
    • Foster sharing of best practices, and networking across the enterprise.
    • Contribute to the celebration of success and any regular summit.
    • Oversee our centralized PPM platform (PowerSteering) including administration, go-forward strategy and prioritization of enhancements.

Qualifications and Candidate Background The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of industry experience with hands-on process improvement or problem-solving experience. Project management, change management and LEAN experience is required. Six Sigma is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Data driven with ability to turn information into insights.
  • Background in back-office transactional support is preferred, finance, IT, customer service, etc.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a bias toward action.
  • Critical thinking skills to handle ambiguity and situations where there is no clear answer or prescribed path.
  • Champion of change and a commitment to continuous improvement with excellence:
    • Challenge the status quo, champion new initiatives, act as a catalyst for change and stimulate others to change
    • Pave the way for needed changes; demonstrate organizational/project management skills with the ability to create value.

Location

  • The position will be based in Indianapolis, IN with occasional travel (<25%). Qualified candidates must currently reside in the Indianapolis, IN area or be willing to relocate.
