Billing Specialist

Basic Function: The billing clerk position is accountable for creating invoices and credit memos, issuing them to customers by all necessary means, and updating customer files.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Issue invoices to customers
• Issue monthly customer statements
• Update customer files with issued invoices
• Process credit memos
• Update the customer master file with contact information
• Track exceptions between the shipping log and invoice register
• Enter invoices into customer invoicing systems
• Desired Qualifications: 3+ years of general accounting experience. Must be detail oriented.
• Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable Department.
• Must communicate & follow up effectively with sales dept regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
• Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with sales and customers.

Essential Functions

• Monthly reporting to direct supervisor
• Processing monthly credit memos and the appropriate reporting
• High volume phone calls to assigned customers for billing issues
• Provide excellent & considerate customer service
• Internal and External customer interface
• Participate in team planning meetings
• Meet defined department goals and activity metrics

Required Skills

• 1-2 years Collections experience or related job experience
• Knowledge of Billing and Collections procedures
• Accounts Receivable knowledge/experience
• Strong attention to detail, goal oriented
• Ability to take on above and beyond job responsibilities
• Experience with Great Plains a plus
• Commitment to excellent customer service
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
• Team oriented mindset
