Bench Research Chemist

Research Chemist

We are seeking a bench chemist experienced in inorganic and organic synthesis, capable of working independently and under the direction of senior personnel. We are a multi-functional research group providing support to a variety of companies from a diverse set of industries. The Research Chemist will conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses or experiments in laboratories to develop new products or knowledge and therefore, we seek a candidate with a creative attitude capable of exploring novel chemistry while also displaying a level of practicality.

Function and Responsibilities:

• Always operate in a safe manner
• Conceive, plan and safely executing technical work of moderate complexity independently and under the supervision of Senior laboratory leaders.
• Evaluate proposed process through on-line research, experimentation, and data interpretation.
• Troubleshoot existing processes to improve efficiency and minimize or find alternative use for waste streams and by-products.
• Confidently handle hazardous chemicals and hazardous wastes, in a safe and professional manner.
• Provide laboratory support for field service engineers

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related science degree or experience.
• Minimum 5 years in chemical laboratory experience required.
• Experience in plant operations preferred.

Relevant Skills Required:

• Adherence to safe laboratory practices.
• Experience with reactor set-up and operation.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Effectively communicating the results of laboratory work through written and oral reports
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent organization and record-keeping skills.
• Experience with scale-up from laboratory to pilot preferred.
• Occasional day and/or overnight travel
