Associate Asphalt Engineer

Position Summary

The Associate Asphalt Engineer will be responsible for conducting testing and research related to asphalt binder formulation and rheology at the Heritage Research Group. This is a newly created developmental role to supplement HRG's capabilities in asphalt binder modification formulation, asphalt binder related research and to support efforts in new product development. The associate asphalt engineer will report to the Rheology Lab Manager.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of asphalt binder modification and formulations.
  • Perform asphalt binder rheology testing under the direction of the rheology lab manager.
  • Support research projects and product development initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain understanding on ongoing asphalt binder research.
  • Develop technical reports and presentation on ongoing work and research initiatives.
  • Represent HRG at various internal and external technical meetings.
  • Troubleshoot asphalt binder issues with company plant personnel and quality control representatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Chemical or Materials Engineering.
  • Experience in asphalt binder testing while maintaining high level of safety.
  • Knowledge of asphalt binder formulation
  • Excellent organization and project management
  • Mechanically inclined and software literate to troubleshoot and maintain testing
  • High degree of both emotional and intellectual
  • Independent, innovative, confident thinker possessing high comfort level with goal-oriented tasks.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication
  • Excellent engagement skills and the ability to gain trust and respect of stakeholders through strong relationship skills and commitment to continuous
