Asphalt Engineer

Position Summary

The Asphalt Engineer will be responsible for conducting research related to asphalt mixtures and binders at the Heritage Research Group. This is a newly created role to develop, conduct, and report research specifically related to performance of asphalt mixtures and asphalt binder properties.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Manage pavement, binder, and mixture related research initiatives within the Heritage Research Group
• Implement new testing capabilities and tests
• Generate internal and external technical reports
• Data analysis
• Conduct and innovate bituminous specimen fabrication for performance testing
• Provide technical support to customers and agencies on research.
• Develop capability to deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders on various topics

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
• Experience in testing of asphalt binders and mixtures

• Knowledge of bituminous mixtures and pavement design
• Excellent organization and project management
• Mechanically inclined and software literate to troubleshoot and maintain testing
• High degree of both emotional and intellectual (missing a word here?)
• Independent, innovative, confident thinker possessing high comfort level with goal-oriented tasks
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent engagement skills and the ability to gain trust and respect of stakeholders through strong relationship skills and commitment to continuous improvement
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
• Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Offices software
