Asphalt Chemistry Intern

Heritage Research Group (HRG) is seeking a qualified student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science to fill the position of Asphalt Chemistry Intern for the Summer of 2022. The active learning position promotes development by working in a team of chemists and technicians with an emphasis on asphalt emulsion system production and evaluation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with growing team of chemists and technicians in a dynamic laboratory setting
• Gain proficiency with asphalt emulsion and blending lab procedures and principles
• Gain valuable hands-on experience with producing, analyzing and evaluating asphalt emulsions and blends, preparing and testing mix designs and developing new product formulations
• Manage and present a project with a focus on formulation improvement or testing development, under the supervision of the asphalt emulsion team

• Quick learner with ability to work independently and within various teams
• Organized with strong attention to detail
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Timely, positive and professional work habits
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Education/Experience Requirements:

• College Freshman/Sophomore/Junior actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
• Interest or experience in material testing is a plus
• Interest or experience in construction is a plus
• Interest or experience in research is a plus
