ITSS is looking for a talented Alteryx Administrator to play a major role in the digital transformation of our 4th generation family-owned organization with nearly 5,000 employees. This role will become the expert resource for the suite of Alteryx products to facilitate adoption of the platform throughout the THG family of companies.

Business intelligence is taking on an increasingly strategic part as The Heritage Group looks for ways to tap into the valuable data stored in their business systems. The Heritage Group has implemented the entire suite of Alteryx products: Connect, Server, and Designer. The Connect data catalog has over 7.5M columns and 7K tables of metadata to facilitate discovery. Projects completed in 2021 utilize tools like, Python, Web-scraping, Text Analytics, Spatial Analysis and Location Analysis.

The Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products (PowerBI, Power Platform, and SharePoint) is seeing a great deal of adoption as business intelligence solutions take hold across the organization. The Enterprise Data Strategy is intended to encourage ≈ 40 operating companies as they enter this space. Support includes tool selection, dashboard and ETL development, and the execution of data flows that are scalable, sustainable, maintainable, and easily accessible by executive leadership. Our Enterprise Data Strategy initiative is focused on establishing a foundation of secure design practices, cooperation between business units, and the value of organized, standardized, quality data.

This role reports directly to the Manager of the Business Intelligence Center of Excellence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Alteryx Platform: Governance, Oversight, Administration and Leadership
    • Business rule development and enforcement for utilization of the enterprise platform.
    • Designer workflow and analytic app developer. Design and develop ETL workflows and datasets in to be used by the BI reporting tool and to populate data warehousing tools: Azure, On Prem, Snowflake.
    • Connect: Management of the Connect server. Advocate and educate users on the value and utilization of the Connect data catalog.
    • Server: Management of the Server server: administration, ODBC, and license management.
  • Further ITSS and BU initiatives
    • Leverage technology to deliver value to the BU's
    • Drive the acquisition, inventory and defining of data assets at an enterprise level
  • Independently manage BI projects
    • Collaborate with Business Units to understand current state and assist with future state definition of the systems and mechanisms for data capture, storage and processing
    • Collaborate with Business Units to translate business requirements into concise and clear Business Intelligence (BI) projects.
    • Research new tools and technologies in the business intelligence arena.
    • Design Power BI visual dashboards for easily digestible representations of data for different internal/external consumers
    • Analyze existing BI reporting processes and recommend/implement improvements
    • Ensure project and support efforts meet service level expectations of business stakeholders and drive quality through best practice, standards, and process observation

Job Requirements

  • Experience working with data analytics tools such as Alteryx Designer, PowerBI, SAS, Qlik, Minitab, or Tableau.
    • Alteryx Designer and Microsoft Power BI experience preferred.
  • Microsoft graph API experience preferred, for Microsoft product integrations
  • Basic SQL knowledge preferred
  • Basic Python knowledge preferred
  • Demonstratable proficiency with complex ETL/ELT processes
  • Experience in reporting, analysis, and aggregation of large data sets
  • Professional demeanor and team player with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Outstanding customer service/communication skills
  • Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Desire to learn and acquire expertise in new technologies
  • Microsoft Office Suite expertise: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Systems Networking or Server Support is preferred
  • Previous Project Management is preferred

Education/Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in informatics, statistics, mathematics, data science, computer science, data analytics or a closely related field is required (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven use of the Lean Tools or CRISP-DM processes in previous projects
  • Exposure to a wide variety of business subject areas (Sales, Inventory, Marketing, Financials, Accounting/GL, etc.) and supply chain experience
