Job Summary: The Communications Specialist is a creative, innovative individual focused on driving our internal benefits communication strategy designed to educate and inform our employees on topics related to benefits, compliance and payroll. Asking employees to take action to better understand and utilize our company benefit programs. Success will be measured by overall employee adoption and understanding of our rich benefit programs.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Partner with the HRSS Leadership Team, to develop and manage a multi-year communications strategy/timeline covering benefits, payroll, compliance and HRIS
  • Create materials that are easily digestible by a diverse employee population across several Heritage Group (THG) companies nationwide. The materials will address multiple generations and varying levels of technical/reading literacy.
  • Create and distribute all benefits/wellness, payroll, and compliance communications across THG's group of businesses
  • Develop dynamic, internal multi-media benefits materials, such as guidebooks, enrollment videos, topic-based benefit education videos, emails, and posters to help effectively communicate HRSS messaging
  • Focus on development of call-to-action materials designed to help employee better understand and utilize company benefit offerings
  • Drive creative workflow process from project initiation, execution, approvals, production, proofing, tracking and archiving
  • Work closely with Benefits Manager to understand products
  • Stay up-to-date on benefits marketing technologies and industry trends
  • Maintain information on employee benefits portals
  • Develop analytics to measure effectiveness of communication strategy and level of understanding by employees


Relevant Skills:

  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills; strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task working with multiple business leaders/project managers across multiple companies
  • Ability to lead and manage a project with both short and long-term goals
  • Proficient in desktop publishing and design software: Adobe PageMaker, InDesign, Publisher


Requirements: This position requires an individual who is comfortable working at a varying pace, managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, adjusting priorities often, and managing frequent interruptions

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in communications, marketing, or similar field
  • 3-5 years' experience in marketing - human resources field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of benefits and 401(k) plans preferred
