Job Summary:

The Operator has responsibility for operations of the plant including basic functions such as manufacturing of asphalt products, receipt and shipment of raw and finished materials and the maintenance of the equipment in the facility. They will be responsible for the successful delivery and receipt of asphalt product by truck and rail to meet customer demands. This position will report to the Plant Manager.

This is a 2nd shift position.  

 

Job Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards and processes
  • Understand product composition and production to ensure proper product blending
  • Operate mill equipment to produce various asphalt products
  • Receive, unload/load and ship raw materials and liquid asphalt products including unloading rail car shipments
  • Provide outstanding customer service while interfacing with customers while performing duties
  • Maintain plant cleanliness, housekeeping and janitorial duties
  • Perform preventative and necessary maintenance and troubleshooting on plant and production equipment
  • General plant labor
  • Other tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years relevant work experience preferred
    • Prefer experience with liquid asphalt and/or heating technologies
  • Willingness to work shift work, overtime and to be on call for after-hours and weekend support
  • Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
  • Must be willing to adhere to safety requirements set out by the company including, utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. - hard hat, safety glasses, respirator, safety work boots, etc.) as required
  • Physical Requirements: standing for long periods of time; lifting 50 pounds; bending to lift; climbing ladders; ability to drive equipment
    • Navigate in, on, and around piping at both grade level and above grade level elevations
    • Navigate vertical ladders and spiral tank stairs to reach work areas
    • Occasionally enter confined spaces through 24" diameter manways
  • Tolerate  scents common to fuels and asphalts loading operations, as well as those of construction and maintenance related activities such as welding, painting, and tank cleaning
  • Will be  required to successfully pass a background check, physical and drug test
